How do you grow your flowers?
I start most of my flowers from seed every year. I bought many of the older perennials from local nurseries and am harvesting seeds from them . I have also grown a large number of bulbs on my property that I continue to split yearly.
How are your flowers pet friendly?
I have four dogs, two cats, and several chickens. Because of this I try to make sure if any of my animals eat my plants they will not get hurt. This means that I tend to stay away from flowers that will cause major harm to any of my pets.
There are still a few flowers and bulbs that may still have some mild oral or stomach irritation. I recommend that all flowers be kept away from pets to prevent injury. If your animal ingests any part of the bouquet please contact your veterinarian. ASPCA has an online source of toxic and non toxic plants.

Do you use any pesticides?
I do not use any pesticides for multiple reasons. I grow flowers along with vegetables, so I try to keep this part of my diet pesticide free.
I also try to allow the natural bugs to control each other. This means that sometimes I may lose some flowers to bug damage, but I find that this is just part of the ecosystem we need to try and support.
What makes local flowers unique?
Local flowers are unique for their freshness, seasonal relevance, support for local growers and contributing to the health of our environment and community.
